Acceptable Use Policy

Platforms hosts news sites, organisations, businesses, schools and communities. To keep the platform trustworthy for all of them, sites must not be used to publish or do the following.

Not allowed

  • Illegal content under the laws of Bangladesh, or content a court or lawful authority has ordered removed.
  • Harm to people: threats, incitement to violence, content that attacks people for their religion, ethnicity, gender, caste or disability, and harassment or doxxing of private individuals.
  • Child sexual abuse material, which we report to the authorities, and any sexual content involving minors.
  • Deception: phishing, scams, fake shops, impersonating a person, organisation or news outlet, and fabricated news presented as real reporting.
  • Other people’s work copied without permission, including whole articles or photos from other publishers.
  • Malware and abuse of the platform: spreading viruses, spam, attacking other systems, or getting around plan limits or suspensions.
  • Adult sexual content and gambling or unlicensed financial schemes.

News and public interest

Reporting on crime, conflict, politics or other difficult subjects is allowed and valued. Journalism done in good faith, with care for victims and accuracy, is not a breach of this policy.

Reporting a site

Every site has a “Report abuse” link in its footer. Reports go to the Platforms team, not to the site owner. We review them, may ask the owner to fix the problem, and may remove content or suspend the site. Urgent reports about danger to someone’s safety are handled first.

What happens if a site breaks the rules

Depending on how serious it is, we may ask the owner to change content, remove content ourselves, suspend the site, or close the account. Owners can reply to explain or appeal by writing to [contact email].
